Music of the Spheres
Nancy Mooslin , 1994
This piece was inspired by the 17th Century astronomer Johannes Kepler whose theory was that planetary motion produce the same numerical ratio’s found in musical harmonies. The sculpture contains 12 colors and 12 tones and represents 12 major triads, the rotating earth, the 12 x 12 hours of the days, the rising and setting of the sun, the phases of the moon and the harmony of the seascape.
