That’s right. Dog owners (and dog lovers) take note. Laguna Beach is one of the most dog friendly towns we’ve traveled to, and today we’re going to share some of the spots we frequent with our Bernedoodle puppy, Sally. Everything has been tested and approved by her.
First let’s start with HOTELS. CASA LOMA BEACH HOTEL is hard to beat. Its picture-perfect location above MAIN BEACH makes it ideal for walks around town with your four-legged friends. Their staff is so incredibly accommodating and will make you and your dog feel right at home. They brought Sally some yummy dog treats, they have a wine hour where you can enjoy complimentary wine and snacks from their rooftop terrace, and they have milk and cookies in the evening. Heaven for all of us! Also, Sally couldn’t get over the view from the balcony in our room – we couldn’t either. Insider tip: Request room 305. It’s our favorite, and in our opinion, has the best view. Sally can vouch for it.
CASA LAGUNA HOTEL & SPA is another favorite hotel of ours that’s a little bit off the beaten path. Located just two miles south of Main Beach, it’s very quaint, peaceful, and yes – dog friendly!! They actually have a grouping of rooms that are specifically for people traveling with pets – complete with spacious patios that are private and secure. You’re just outside of the hustle of downtown, but still nestled near amazing small coves and beaches… making Casa Laguna one of Sally’s favorite destinations. She told us herself. 😉
While Sally hasn’t been able to stay at all the dog friendly hotels in Laguna, we’re paw-sitive there are plenty of great options. Check out a list of all the PET FRIENDLY HOTELS IN LAGUNA BEACH.
When it comes to PET FRIENDLY DINING OPTIONS, look no further than THE CLIFF RESTAURANT. Complete with jaw-dropping ocean views, The Cliff also boasts the BEST “puppy menu” we have ever seen. That’s right. They have meals specifically crafted and created for dogs. You can order your pup everything from chicken and rice to prime rib!! Last time we went we ordered the prime rib for Sally, and we’re not exaggerating when we say it was the happiest we’ve ever seen her. (It was a brutal reality for her coming home to dry food later that night!) Beyond the “puppy menu”, the food for humans is also amazing. We highly recommend the mahi mahi fish tacos and the French dip!
While the “puppy menu” really sets the bar high, there are a bunch of other restaurants that have a great atmosphere for dogs (including outdoor seating and probably a bowl of water for Sally).
No visit to Laguna Beach is complete without a stop at ART FOR THE SOUL to check out one of our favorite doggy artists, Debby Carman. She creates one-of-a-kind colorful paintings of pups that she proudly refers to as, “art with a heart”. We can’t get over how she so perfectly captures a dogs friendly disposition and personality – you better believe we’ll be commissioning her to do a portrait of Sally very soon!!
A three minute walk from Art for the Soul will lead you to NAKED DOG BISTRO, where you can get your pup the most delicious gluten/grain free dog food. Their bakery also carries an assortment of scrumptious daily made treats including cupcakes, biscuits, dog sushi, and donuts. Sally’s favorite is anything bacon. Do you spoil your dog enough?
When it comes to exercise (Sally needs to work off that prime rib…and multiple cupcakes!!), we love to take her to the LAGUNA BEACH DOG PARK. It’s one of the biggest – and best – dog parks we’ve ever taken her to, and Sally loves all of the friendly neighborhood pups that frequent it.
And lastly, but most importantly, Sally loves the beach. Whether she’s captivated by a beach volleyball game, frantically trying to dig holes, nervously wading in the water, or making friends with the local groms as they skim board – she is captivated by it! But don’t forget your leash, and please respect Laguna’s beautiful BEACHES by picking up after your pup.
In closing, we highly recommend treating your pup to a doggy date or weekend away in Laguna Beach. There are countless options for a relaxing vacation, a good meal, and new friends. If you’re lucky, all the excitement will result in a mellow dog in major need of a nap once you get home. 😉 Enjoy!
